Diana Zhakisheva, a trailblazing Russian aerobic gymnast and Master of Sport of Russia, has revolutionized the landscape of aerobic gymnastics in Kazakhstan, founding and elevating the sport to international prominence. Her extraordinary journey as an athlete and coach reflects her passion, resilience, and visionary leadership. Diana embarked on her aerobic gymnastics journey in 2008 at age 14, swiftly rising to prominence. From 2009, she earned multiple accolades at Russian Championships in group, trio, and pair categories. In 2014, at the 4th International Aerobic Gymnastics Championship in Cantanhede, Portugal, she secured gold in mixed pair and aerostep, alongside silver in the group event, establishing herself as a world-class competitor. Beginning her coaching career in 2016, Diana moved to Kazakhstan in 2017, where aerobic gymnastics was virtually unknown. With relentless dedication, she established the country’s first aerobic gymnastics school, igniting a passion for the sport among hundreds of athletes. Her athletes achieved remarkable success, earning silver and bronze medals at the 2023 Asian Championships in Mongolia and claiming multiple titles at international competitions in the Czech Republic, Portugal, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Spain, Estonia, Russia, and Kazakhstan. As Kazakhstan’s only specialized aerobic gymnastics coach, Diana pioneered the sport’s development from the ground up. She successfully advocated for its recognition as the fifth official discipline under the Kazakhstan Gymnastics Federation, enabling the assignment of sports ranks and the prestigious Master of Sport title. Through her school, she has inspired and captivated hundreds of athletes, fostering a deep love for aerobic gymnastics and producing globally competitive talent. Her transformative impact continues to shape the sport’s future, leaving an enduring legacy in the global aerobic gymnastics community.
